Brazil: The cost to Rio of hosting the Rio Games and World Cup

-

What is the relation among the UPPs (Peacemaker Police Units) from Rio, the state agent’ speculation, the eviction of entire communities, the large building companies and the World Cup in Brazil? This is what the filmmakers Fausto Mota, Raoni Vidal and Henrique Campos have proposed to find out and to present in their documentary film “Public Domain”.

This 17min film was produced independently by Paêbirú Realizações who hope that it will become a feature documentary. The project has a pitch for crowd funding at the Catarse website. The film suggests that Rio de Janeiro, like all the other cities who host the World Cup, is becoming more and more a city in service to the large building companies and big business.
