In the Praça (Square) Homero Silva, on Avenida Pompeia, there is a pavement where water tenaciously insists in welling up from underground. Houses were built here, and later demolished. Developers wanted to drain the area, but the spring remains, tunelling under this dry part of the city and keeping it wet… It’s the spring versus the buildings, a contemporary version of the battle between David and Goliath. And that’s just where a lake forms, with fish and water plants… Come and see it, bless it, come to bear witness to the possibility of another kind of city.
