The Sunday Times has an interesting article on Brazilian Indians today. The journalist Chrstina Lamb went back to the region visited by Norman Lewis 40 years ago. Lewis wrote a hugely influential article, also in the Sunday Times, about the way Indians were being killed. He called it ‘genocide’. It led to the creation of Survival International. I am surprised that the paper didn’t make more of the fact that it was one of its articles that led to the creation of this fairly influential organisation…
